POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS LAW

Overview

The aim of this qualification is to develop legal skills, analysis, logical thinking and knowledge that can usefully be applied in further study, legal profession and public service. It provides learners with an understanding of law in context of business to equip them with abilities needed to work with advance issues. This qualification covers a wide range of modern issues and develops the critical, analytical and technical skills needed by senior management staff. Moreover, Level 7 Diploma in International Business Law offers and provides careers related guidance and support to postgraduate students which are:

  • The Level 7 Diploma in International Business Law is a respected qualification and honoured as a valid pathway toward the LLM degree.

Learning outcomes:
  • 1To understand wide ranges of subjects in the international business law.

  • Develop an understanding for legal framework that governs the international business transactions within industry.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the commercial trust law, company law, international trade law, intellectual property law, and law of financial crimes in the international business.

  • Develop research skills and ability to write on key areas in international business law.

  • Select, collate, review and analyse information form a wide range of sources.

  • Work independently and as part of a team.

  • Manage one’s own personal development and growth.

Entry requirements

​

  • An honours degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification

  • Mature learners with management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)

  • Learner must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course

  • English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency.

 
Equivalences

The Postgraduate (Level 7) diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are at the same level as master’s degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) and learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with university to achieve a full masters programme.

Qualification structure
​

The Postgraduate (Level 7) Diploma in International Business Law qualification consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification. Learners must complete all mandatory units then choose one of two optional units.

  • International Trade Law (20 credits)

  • Commercial Trust Law (20 credits)

  • Industrial and Intellectual Property Law (20 credits)

  • Law and Financial Crimes (20 credits)

  • Company Law (20 credits

  • Legal Research and Research Methods (10 credits)

Optional units
  • Corporate Governance – Principles and Practices (10 credits)

  • International Commercial Arbitration (10 credits)

Duration and delivery

The qualification is designed to be delivered over 6 months for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning. The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and distance/online learning
